Rainwater Harvesting at Home

Home » News » Rainwater Harvesting at Home

Capturing rainwater is one of the simplest sustainability upgrades you can build into a new custom home. With Texas summers what they are, every inch of stored rainwater is an inch you don’t pull from the municipal supply or your well.

When we plan a system, we look at:

  • Roof area and pitch. Bigger collection surface, more harvest per storm.
  • Tank placement. Above-ground cisterns are cheaper; buried tanks preserve the view and stay cooler.
  • Use cases. Irrigation only? Toilet flushing? Drinking water? Each step up adds filtration and code requirements.
  • First-flush diversion. A small detail that keeps roof debris and the first dirty minute of rainfall out of your tank.

If you’re considering a rainwater system on a future build, talk to us early — the cleanest installs are designed in, not added on.
